It’s 2023 and the yoga world is in full bloom Teaching yoga in San Diego for the last four years has been a dream come true. Nothing has grounded me more of given my soul more pleasure than teaching yoga, other than writing. I am about to drive to EOS in Oceanside and teach one of my favorite ‘All Levels,’ yoga class. When I arrive there, the gym is a glow with enthusiasm and energy. You immediately feel the endorphins from everyone there, bouncing off of you, inspiring you to move your body and become active. What could be more inspiring than that? I will tell you, for me, not much when it comes to the fitness world.
Surrounding yourself with inspirational individuals that inspire you to do more, like at EOS Oceanside is one of the smartest moves you can make on your journey. What inspires you? Who lifts you up? Do you have a circle of friends or acquaintances that give you that surge when you need it the most? For me, one of those inner circles comes from my yoga community. What a gift to arrive on my yoga mat and to plug into my students and their needs and to find such a community every day.

If you don’t have that kind of circle of trust or community, work on stepping outside of your comfort zone to build that. Find what inspires you. Discover a mentor. Read a book. Move that body. Do what is necessary in order to achieve your dreams. It’s not always easy starting over or finding that kind of energy. However, if you trust the process of letting go, and finding the power to move forward in small ways, you will be amazed at the results.
I need to walk my dogs. The clock is ticking. I am wrapping up nutrition classes, too and have one more final. And, what hard work it all was and excitement and scary moments, too. When joy is always optimal, never under estimate the power of fear and how it moves you through the darker waters, revealing to you how to change and grow and move forward, when you need to the most.
That phrase, ‘no mud, no lotus,’ that is what that means. And until you experience it, it’s just a quote like many others. This one is real though. What you experience moves you into a wonderful new world full of exciting opportunities, that you could never find without the hard work, the growth and facing down your worst fears. living through them and carrying on…
Yoga does that for me. Books do that for me. Writing does that for me. And, yes, EOS Oceanside, you do that for me, too. I am no my way. Find your niche. Find your people. They will not disappoint you.
Cheers, Machel (Ma-shel)
