I stop by the San Diego Animal Services a couple times a month to take photos and spend time with the dogs that are looking for homes. I just loved JAX, this Siberian Husky- Male, which is only four years old. I spent some time with Jaxs and his temperament was so sweet and friendly. Right next to him was a puppy that was whining and he kept trying to look up and over his kennel area to see if he could help the puppy in need. Not once did he bark or look angry at all. If I could take this guy home with me I would! What a regal beauty and love bug. If you are looking for a full breed Siberian Husky, this guy is a winner. He is much more gorgeous in person.

I would suggest coming in and spending time with him and if you have another doggie, bring them, too. I don’t know anything else other than what is listed. But sometimes they will know at the front desk the nature of surrender on the animal. Rescue this beauty and save yourself the hassle of potty training. JAX IS READY  today for your loving home.

It’s Christmas time and my heart breaks for the homeless kitties and doggies and other animals. I have rescue pets myself and they just make my life maybe simply just–FABULOUS!  If you live in the San Diego area and are looking to adopt a kitty, here are two beauties to consider.  Both cats are still fairly young and are Siamese cats. Siamese cats are very affectionate, loving and needy kitties that you could almost equate to acting more like little doggies because they will follow you from room to room and beg for you love. They love people are social and can be very vocal. I have owned Siamese Kitties since 1989 and will always have one in my life. They are amazing, special cats (just like all cats!). I would say if you travel a lot or work a lot, may not a good fit because they need more love and attention than other types of Kitty breads. Both cats are located in the San Diego area. SiameseSanDiego

Located in the North Animal County Shelter in San Diego. 2 Year old male Whippet looking for love and to give you lots of love. Still in puppy range. What a Beauty!

My name is BENNY.

I’m a neutered YELLOW
WHIPPET/BLEND.
My age is 2 YEARS.
My weight is 29.2 lbs.
I’m in the Northern Region shelter.

My ID number is A1685246,
my necktag number is N272, and
my kennel number is N032.

If you are looking for a doggie, Benny looks like a winner. Even though photo doesn’t show his brilliant and handsome demeanor, these whippet doggies make excellent pets for your family.

CHARACTERISTICS OF WHIPPETS:

The AKC Standard says the Whippet is “amiable, friendly, gentle, but capable of great intensity during sporting pursuits.”

The Whippet is sweet-natured and docile, yet playful and athletic. The same dog who will curl up under the blankets — a perfect couch potato, sleeping for hours — will tear enthusiastically around the yard, darting and zigzagging and turning on a dime without slowing down.

Whippets love running games and require short bursts of vigorous exercise each day. The area must be fenced, for this racy breed is the fastest dog of his weight: he can run up to 35 mph.

Whippet puppies can be mischievous and destructive, but adults are calm, undemanding, and unobtrusive indoors, trotting around with a light-footed easy grace and seldom making a peep. They do insist on the luxury of being up on the furniture, so if this offends you, you shouldn’t consider a sighthound.

Polite with strangers, the Whippet should be accustomed to people and noises at an early age. He is peaceful with other dogs but has a high prey drive and cannot be trusted with smaller pets.

Whippets are mildly stubborn, but also very sensitive. They respond favorably only to calm, upbeat training methods that emphasize praise and food.

Sighthounds are touch-sensitive, tending to startle when touched unexpectedly or grabbed for a hug, so a verbal correction is less upsetting and distracting than a physical one.~COPY FROM Your Pure Bread Puppy

Please note this baby is not a full bread Whippet and best way to find out if he is right for you is to visit tomorrow!! http://www.sddac.com/pet_details.asp?RowNum=37

If you want a dog who…

  • Looks like a medium-sized Greyhound, with a slender, elegant, racy build and a graceful, lightfooted gait
  • Has a sleek easy-care coat that comes in many colors
  • Indoors, is quiet and dignified, undemanding and unobtrusive
  • Outdoors, is playful and athletic and gallops with breathtaking speed
  • Is polite with everyone, including other dogs

A Whippet may be right for you.

My personal experience with a rescue doggie has been absolutely wonderful! If you are thinking about adopting this baby, don’t hesitate. He looks like he will find a home soon, based on all of the wonderful characteristics of a whippet:).
